CT Hyrogen-Fuel Cell Coalition

2009 Fuel Cell Seminar and Exposition

Connecticut continues to reinforce its position as a world leader in the research, development, and manufacturing of hydrogen and fuel cell technology at the 2009 Fuel Cell Seminar & Expo held in California. Currently, Connecticut is host to two of the largest fuel cell companies in the world and an employment base of approximately 2,500 employees that promote a gross domestic product of over $340 million.

The Connecticut Hydrogen-Fuel Cell Coalition (Coalition) was one of more than 130 exhibitors that exhibited at the Fuel Cell Seminar &Expo that had more than 1,700 visitors from over 30 countries. The Connecticut industry presence showcased Connecticut’s resources and capabilities, and served to attract businesses to Connecticut and demonstrate support for the fuel cell and hydrogen industry in Connecticut.

This effort was made possible through a partnership between the members including the Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology, Inc. (CCAT), Connecticut Innovations, Inc., the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD), the Center for Clean Energy Engineering at the University of Connecticut, and several manufacturers from Connecticut .

Coalition members FuelCell Energy, Inc., Proton Energy System, and Precision Combustion, Inc. presented on research and technical advances. CCAT presented on the establishment of a National “Green Energy” Economic Stimulus Plan, and the Connecticut Clean Energy Fund presented on State policy. In addition, representatives from Avalence, LLC, Sustainable Innovations, LLC, the Center for Clean Energy Engineering at the University of Connecticut, and Infinity Fuel Cells and Hydrogen, Inc., were present to develop business opportunities.
