Job Description

PhD-Level Scientists and Engineers

We are looking for two experienced results-oriented PhD-level scientists or engineers, with strong analytic and innovation skills in the fields of catalysis and chemical reaction engineering. We want smart innovators with strong fundamental understanding, relevant experience, team skills, and a focus on results.

Senior Catalyst Scientist/Engineer: The successful candidate will lead PCI’s catalyst and catalytic coating development programs and will be a key member of PCI’s technical team. The ideal candidate will have experience in heterogeneous catalyst materials and coatings development and application, as well as a thorough knowledge of catalyst fundamentals, catalyst selection, significant experience in PGM catalyst development and high temperature catalyst applications. Experience with successful catalyst R&D and catalyst coatings are required. Chemical reactor engineering skill and the ability to develop new reactor designs would be very helpful, as would successful experience in new technology commercialization, winning R&D proposal writing, product plan development and execution, and customer interaction. Knowledge of short contact time catalysts, catalytic combustion, gas turbines, engines or new pollution control technology is not necessary, although it would be an asset to the position. You will be refining our current catalysts and catalyst coatings as well as developing new ones. Managerially, you should be a strong mentor and motivator, inclusive, creative and decisive with a good sense of humor.

Research Engineer/Scientist: We’re looking for your ability to achieve breakthroughs using your strong fundamentals and innovative skill applied to challenging opportunities. Desirable attributes include hands-on R&D skills, ability to develop catalytic reactors for combustion and reforming systems and reactors for fuel cell applications, catalyst design, and good technical writing skills. Knowledge and/or experience in high technology areas of catalyst development and high temperature catalyst applications and knowledge of fuel cell systems—both experimental and analytical/modeling are required. Knowledge of catalytic combustion, gas turbines, combustion engines, pollution control technology a plus.

These positions require a Ph.D. in Chemistry and/or Chemical Engineering with appropriate background in laboratory preparation, characterization and testing of catalysts as well as industrial experience. Alternately, we will consider a MS level candidate with 10+ years relevant industry experience in heterogeneous catalyst development and application and a track record of significant success.
